FAQ

Beginner Notice

Are these mockups beginner-friendly?

While no extensive Photoshop experience is required, you’ll need basic familiarity with layers and Smart Objects.

Every purchase includes a professional, bilingual user guide that walks you through inserting your artwork in just a few clicks. You can also download our free mockup — which includes the full guide — to try it out before purchasing.

Please check the "Frame, Scale & File Details" section of the FAQs to ensure your system requirements are correct.

⚠️ Please note: Due to the digital nature of our mockups, all sales are final. If in doubt, we recommend trying our free sample first.

How do I open a PSD file?

You can open the PSD file in Adobe Photoshop. Make sure your version supports Smart Objects. If you need help, refer to the PDF guide included with your purchase (also available for free on this site along with our free mockup).
We recommend testing your Photoshop version (CS6 or later) and your hardware (16 GB RAM suggested) before purchasing — no subscription required.

Product & Usage

What am I purchasing?

You are purchasing a digital mockup file (PSD) that allows you to insert your own artwork into a styled interior scene.

All our background scenes are rendered and delivered in a fully optimized 8-bit format. This ensures fast loading, reduced file sizes, and zero loss in visible quality — even at high zoom levels.

The files are intended for online display, mockups, and visual presentations, not for printing. If you need ultra-high-bit originals for advanced use cases, just let us know — we’re happy to assist.

Do I get a physical frame or print?

No — this is a digital-only product. Nothing will be shipped.

Can I use these mockups to sell my own posters or art prints?

Absolutely. These mockups are made for creators like you to showcase your designs professionally on Etsy, Shopify, or any platform. Our mockups are optimised to match the most popular frame sizes provided by the most popular POD platforms such as Gelato or Printful. Check on each mockup's description to know more.

Can I use these mockups to print my art or frame previews?

No — these mockups are built for digital display only (e.g., Etsy, Shopify, Instagram). They are not suitable for printing.

🖼 A quick reminder:
These mockups are made for high-quality previews, not for print production. For best results, insert artwork files under 20 MB — large print-ready files (e.g. 100+ MB TIFFs) are not needed and may slow things down.

Can I use these in my agency or studio workflow?

Yes — our license covers commercial usage for your own branding, client work, and product listings.

Do I need Photoshop experience?

Our mockups are multi-layered Photoshop files designed to give you flexibility in showcasing your artwork and our included PDF guide walks you through each step. While no extensive experience is required, basic Photoshop familiarity is still recommended.

Are the files compatible with Canva or Procreate?

MockupHaus mockups are high-resolution, professional products designed for Photoshop only. We do not currently support Canva, Procreate, or other apps.

Can I use the mockups for client work?

Yes, you may use the mockups in projects for your clients as part of your service. You may not resell the mockup files themselves.

Can I use these for commercial use?

Yes, unlimited commercial usage is allowed for the final flattened images you create using our mockups. Just don't resell the original files. For further information, you may also check our "Terms, License, & Support" section below.

Can I edit the mockups beyond replacing the artwork?

Yes, you can move layers, toggle them on/off, change colors, and add overlays. However, frame placement and lighting are part of the scene and should not be altered for the best results. It is also recommended to keep the layer structure as is for the best results.

Do you provide free samples?

Yes, you can download a sample mockup on MockupHaus.com free of charge and without a subscription.

We also offer a free mockup bundle every month by subscribing to our newsletters.

The mockup looks blurry when I export. Why?

Ensure you're exporting at full resolution and checking the Smart Object’s content. Refer to the PDF guide included with your purchase for tips.

Can you customise this mockup for me?

To keep pricing fair and workflows efficient, we don’t offer customisations. What you see is exactly what you get.

Frame, Scale & File Details

These files seem large. Can my computer handle them?

Our PSD files range from 250–300 MB due to the high-resolution, layered content. These mockups are optimized for modern Photoshop workflows (we recommend Photoshop CC 2020 or later). Slower machines may experience lag while opening or editing files.

These mockups are made for high-quality previews, not for print production. For best results, insert artwork files under 20 MB — large print-ready files (e.g. 100+ MB TIFFs) are not needed and may slow things down.

Once your artwork is inserted, the file size may increase to 400–500 MB, depending on the resolution and artwork. This is completely normal and won’t affect image quality — but having more RAM helps with responsiveness, especially when working across multiple layers or Smart Objects.

💻 System Recommendations

– ✅ Minimum: 16 GB RAM – suitable for editing and exporting mockups with standard artwork files.
– ⭐ Ideal: 32 GB RAM – recommended for smoother performance, especially when inserting high-resolution or layered artwork files.

⚠️ A quick note on file size:

If you're working with very large artwork files and notice slow performance, consider temporarily disabling layer effects or working in a lower-resolution version until the final export.

If Photoshop feels slow, make sure your scratch disk (usually your main hard drive) has at least 20–30 GB of free space. This helps Photoshop run smoothly even when memory is limited.

For web previews or Etsy thumbnails, we recommend saving a flattened copy (JPEG or PNG) to keep things light.

Which computer setup do I need?

💻 System Recommendations

– ✅ Minimum: 16 GB RAM – suitable for editing and exporting mockups with standard artwork files.
– ⭐ Ideal: 32 GB RAM – recommended for smoother performance, especially when inserting high-resolution or layered artwork files.

These mockups are optimized for modern Photoshop workflows. Once your artwork is inserted, the file size may increase to 400–500 MB or more, depending on resolution. This is completely normal and won’t affect image quality — but having more RAM helps with responsiveness, especially when working across multiple layers or Smart Objects.

Mockups are compatible with Adobe Photoshop CC 2020 or newer. Please ensure your version supports Smart Objects.

We do not recommend opening these files with Preview or other non-Photoshop image apps, as Smart Objects and layers won’t function correctly.

Are the frame sizes accurate?

Yes. All mockups use proportionally scaled frames, based on real-life dimensions (e.g., 60×90 cm). The dimensions refer to the artwork size within the frame; we also recommend reading the mockup description to know about the frame width and thickness as well.

What are the frame thickness and border dimensions?

We optimise our mockups to reflect the thickness and width of the most used POD platforms such as Gelato, Printful, and more. As the POD providers have different frame dimensions, we recommend reading each mockup description before purchase to know for which POD's product has been optimised to.

Can I change the frame color?

Each mockup comes with a frame color optimised for a specific POD provider and product (e.g., black wood). If you need multiple colors and materials we provide bundles with several options, e.g., black, white, light wood, dark wood, and frameless. We do not recommend recoloring manually.

Can I change or remove the reflection?

Yes! The glazing layer is optional. We include multiple tones (cold, warm, neutral) and versions (soft or sharp). It comes ON by default, but you can toggle visibility, change opacity, or turn it off completely if you prefer a matte finish. This product is built for Photoshop users who are familiar with layer management and blending modes.

Are the mockups high resolution?

Yes. Mockups are rendered at 6000×3375 px (or higher), suitable for large displays.

Do you include web-ready versions?

Yes. Each download includes a web-optimised JPG you can use for Etsy or your website. However, these versions do not include Smart Objects.

What file types are included?

Each mockup includes:

  • 1x PSD file with Smart Object, 6000x3375 px or higher, approx. 250 MB
  • 1x PNG alternative lighting version (Mood B), 6000x3375 px or higher, approx. 25 MB
  • 2x JPG previews (Mood A and Mood B), approx. 7 MB each
  • 1x PDF instructions

Are the files high-quality enough for professional use?

Yes — all mockups are crafted with professional standards in mind. To ensure smooth performance across a range of devices, the backgrounds are delivered in 8-bit format, which keeps file sizes manageable without any noticeable loss of visual quality. We've tested them side-by-side with 16-bit versions at 300% zoom.

Lighting & Styling

Is the lighting realistic?

Yes — scenes are created using physically based lighting setups for photorealistic results, with shadows and highlights matching the scene direction.

What’s the difference between Mood A and Mood B?

Mood A and Mood B simply refer to two different light settings for the scene, and may include some props differences (e.g., a different rug) to match the lighting and provide more variety.

Mood A is within the main PSD file, while Mood B is provided separately as a high-resolution PNG and can be dropped in the PSD file. This way, by purchasing a single mockup, you can double your presentation outputs and choose the mood that better matches your artwork.

Can I use my own models or people in the mockups?

Each mockup comes with a person or pet included, in a separate layer that can be toggled on and off. These cutouts have been optimised for Mood A, and we do not recommend using them for Mood B.

Should you wish to use your cutouts, keep in mind that lighting mismatches may occur.

Can I change the wall color or background?

Most mockups are designed with neutral walls. While technically possible, we do not support full background swaps as the scenes are photorealistically composed.

Is everything in the scene original?

Yes. All major objects, furniture, and props are originally created in-house by MockupHaus. In addition to providing a safer tool for your sales, we are proud of the uniqueness of our scenes that will make your artwork stand out as premium.
